El dragón de España [11-Feb-2010]

Altogether twelve DRAGON x6 airport fi re-fi ghting vehicles delivered to Spanish AENA airports
Spain and the DRAGON – now this is a partnership which lasts. From the total of 12 identically constructed units of the giant airport firefighting vehicles – a repeat order for IVECO MAGIRUS – three went to the Canary islands, two to Pamplona, Vitoria, Valencia and Madrid respectively as well as one to Las Palmas. The order for the vehicles was placed by AENA (Aeropueortos espagnoles y navegaçion Aérea) which operates all domestic airports in Spain. Preceding the order, the Technical Committee of AENA had carried out an extensive range of tests in April 2009. Over a period of 15 days, the first delivery of vehicles completed a series of test runs at all airports. The test phase was supervised by experts from IVECO Spain and IVECO MAGIRUS. In order to guarantee the constant availability of the vehicles, a dedicated network complete with its own service points close to all the airports was set up in Spain. The Spanish DRAGON x6 carries 12,000 l of extinguishing agent and has an additional powder-extinguishing installation with 250 kg of agent. The IVECO Cursor engine produces 764 kW (1,024 HP) and can accelerate from 0 to 80 km/h in 22 seconds. The maximum speed is 120 km/h.

Sales Manager, Domenico Corti, was responsible for processing the complete order.
