The Massif actually has nothing in common with the currently popular
SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) which have a somewhat chunky appearance
but nevertheless are built more for the city than off-road. It is a
fully-fledged, robust rough-terrain vehicle whereby professional offroad
use was the main focus during its development phase. The Massif
is built for rough conditions but provides, however, optimal driving
comfort for its passengers with three equipment versions:
Classico, Montagna and Avventura.
Regardless whether it’s
asphalt or mud: The Massif
lives up to its name.
It stands out, among other things, with climbing ability of up to 52°, a
entry angle of 50° and an exit angle of 30°, a fording depth of 500 mm
(with standard equipment) and a ground clearance of 200 mm on the
suspension as well as 260 mm and 235 mm on the front and rear axles
respectively. With a powerful
3-litre diesel engine (146 or
176 hp) – top marks where
performance and dynamic
are concerned – the
Massif redefines
the benchmarks in
its class.
The new DAILY 4x4 looks like a genuine 4x4: it stands high off the
ground and provides its driver with an excellent overview. This is very
important particularly when one really is ”off-road”, i.e. where there
are no roads and tracks. The climbing capacity of 45°, the entry angle
of 51°, a ramp angle of up to 149° and the fording depth of 700 mm
show that the new Daily has the performance of a real off-road vehicle.
Although new, the Daily 4x4 is nevertheless immediately recognizable
through the driver’s cab which is the same as that used for the onroad
version of the Daily.
However, in favour of more spring travel, the 4x4 is mounted high
above the robust ladder-type frame and has a new front bumper with
integrated dimmed headlights and fog lamps.
The comfortable interior design of the Daily 4x2 has been taken on
for both the standard driver’s cab and 6 + 1 double cab.
The new DAILY 4x4 is available with 3.5 t and 5.5 t Gross Vehicle
Weight as well as 3,050 mm and 3,400 mm wheel base. It comes as
35 S 18 W and 55 S 18 W with both wheel bases and standard driver’s
cab. The double cab is available for the longer wheel base.
