65 years MAGIRUS in Erkheim [24-Oct-2008]

A MAGIRUS fire-fighting vehicle made in 1943 has seen service with the Erkheim brigade (Unterallgäu) District/Bavaria) for many decades although its future role will be as an attraction at open days. Erkheim has now taken delivery of another MAGIRUS - this particular LF 20/16 is built on an IVECO chassis with single tyres. Particular interest here ist the enlarged water tank which holds 3000 litres, almost twice as much as usual. A large quantity of extinguishing agent is thus immediately available during operations. Along with the fire-brigade itself, the MAGIRUS veteran is especially pleased that a worthy successor has been found after 65 years
